Mobile Legends: Explaining Physical Defense and Physical PEN

Reducing Physical Defense or increasing Physical PEN is something that can be a very useful factor to deal more damage. These factors are not adding additional damage, but multiply the damage received by the target.

How Physical Defense and Physical PEN work together

This is how Physical Defence and Physical PEN works shows in the image.
First Physical ATK deal by Hero go through 2 phrase
First, it got reduced by Physical Defence, Then the remain damage is increased by PEN.
And then damage deal on target.
Remember condition
If Physical Defense = 0, and PEN>0, Then Received Damage > Physical ATK.

If Physical PEN is increased, or Physical Defence is reduced. both will gives similar results.

That's why Physical PEN is available for Equipments and Emblems, but Reducing Physical Defence only available for Heroes like Sun and Saber.
And to reduce Physical Damage, Equipment and Emblems provides Physical Defence. not Reducing Physical PEN from Attacker.

Understanding Physical Defense

To understand this in a very easy way. Physical Defence and Physical PEN is similar things. but there is one thing which is you should remember.
Physical Defence is actually a ratio. where a Damage is reduced by Physical defense.

This is how it's described. where D= Physical ATK of Hero, RD= Received Damaged by Target.

Physical Defence ∝ D /RD

Saber's Passive Reduce Physical Defence points

Sun's Passive Reduce Physical Defence points

So if This Physical Defence is Reduced. then the Received Damage is increased.
Remember, If your Hero's physical defense is reduced, You will receive more physical damage from the enemy heroes, creeps, and minions.


Understanding Physical PEN

Physical PEN Increase Damage. But this increased damage is only applicable to heroes target by the User.

Comparing Physical and Assassin Emblem damage based on PEN

Physical PEN also affects Passive Damage too.

For example Demon Hunter sword's Damage.

Physical PEN affecting Demon Hunter sword's Passive Devour.

When Physical PEN is higher, Passive Damage is increased too.


So as you can see. Physical Defence and Physical PEN both are Different things.
But they both effects the damage.

The equipment provides the highest Physical PEN
